Trying to find colour inspiration

So, lately what I have been doing is going through House and Home or Style at Home magazines and interior designer websites to find some interesting colour combinations. I haven't found anything that is really different yet, so the search continues. If anyone out there has found an interesting and challenging colour combination, then please send it to me!

Where did the weekend go?

Monday? Again? Did I miss it? The weekend, I mean. It flew by, and I am not impressed. I feel like I didn't get anything done even though I was really busy. I wasn't feeling very creative this weekend, but I do have a couple photos of cards that I haven't showcased quite yet. Thanks for looking:) Hope you had a fabulous Monday!

When it Rains it Pours!

Christmas just ends, then Valentine's arrives. Surprisingly, I have been getting a lot of requests for Valentine's cards. To be honest with you, I didn't think people really gave out valentine's cards, just to your significant other. But I am getting requests for cards for parents, grandparents, children etc. So, I am super busy. I thought about just doing a really simple design and duplicating it, but that really isn't my style, at least, it isn't my style right now..lol.
Valentine's cards will be uploaded by the weekend, but for now, here are a couple you haven't seen yet. thanks for looking!

Everything done before Golden Globes

Before my obsession with cards and my mini obsession with digiscrap, there were movie and TV obsessions. This has never gone away. I am a huge movie buff and I watch my fav programs every week. So, when award show season comes around, everything has to be completed before it starts. Shopping....check, dinner...check, kids bathed...check, cards completed...CHECK! Here are a couple of cards that I finished on the weekend. Once I get on a roll, there is no stopping me. To be honest, knowing that the award show was on was the only thing that DID stop me! Ever have those days, where your ideas just work? That was Sunday for me, which was a nice change considering I had a tough time a couple weeks ago coming up with ideas. Sometimes I think I just have to step away from card making, just to clear my head.
A lot of the cards used Basic Grey June Bug collection...loving it!
TFL!

Paper Rose Tutorial

I have had a lot of interest in my paper roses lately, so I decided to do a quick tutorial, oh god, bear with me, still new at this blogging thing. I didn't have time to do a video tutorial, next time I will schedule more time to do that, so for now it is going to be a photo tutorial. A friend taught me how to do these roses a couple years ago and it was the new Prima paper flowers that jogged my memory on these cute, easy roses. Enjoy and TFL!

1. A square piece of cardstock, don't really worry about measurements, the bigger the square the bigger and fuller the flower will be, but just fyi the cardstock I was using was 5.5"x 5.5".

2. Draw a spirial starting from the centre of the square to the outside edge of the square, you don't have to be perfect!

3. Cut out the spirial, be sure to cut right to the centre of the spirial.

4.Once you have cut to the centre of the spirial, go back to where you started and snip the spirial away from the square cardstock.

5. You snipped the spirial from the square cardstock, and this is what you have left. Easy so far, right! Just wait it gets easier.

6. Start rolling the spirial inward to the centre, remember you don't have to be perfect.

7. Once you have rolled the spirial all the way to the centre, put a small glue dot on the bottom to hold the rose together.

8. Done! What I usually do is add a couple more small glue dots in the centre of the flower, but make sure they are hidden. I do this because of two things, I don't want the flower to slightly unravel more than what I want it too and because I want it to keep it's shape.

Idol tonight

Okay, I love American Idol, can't wait for it tonight! That show is just pure entertainment, and after a brutal day, it's good to get a laugh. A busy night for me, Idol, Leafs game and I have to fit working out in between these shows. Cards are going to have to wait one more day:(
I do have a couple to show..even if you are just passing by, thanks for looking!

Not a good day

Well, the day started out okay but it ended on a bad note. As I was leaving working from the parking garage, I "accidently" hit the pilar that I was parked beside, nice eh? This isn't unusual for me, I have bad luck like this all the time and the fact that I am not a great driver. Yes, I'll admit, no stellar driver here. Looks like a couple hundred dollars damage, we'll see on Friday when I get it estimated.
On a positive note, I have added a new resolution for the year, not only am I going to get fit (which is going well) but I am going to conquer card making this year.
As I have said before I am relatively new to scrapping, I have done LO's in the past and moved to digiscrap because I am really bad at developing my photo's, but I have always liked the smaller projects, so this is what I am going to concentrate on.
I had a couple of requests at work to bring in some samples, lots of cards sold on the spot and I have had requests to bring in more cards. So, that being said, I will be busy, and I am taking this quite seriously. My husband thinks there is a lot of potential, he doesn't realize the huge market scrapbooking is, but I live in a suberb of Toronto, so maybe there is some potential for me here. Even if it is just the girls at work, it's something right?
So this is my plan. I have always bought papers and cardstock because I liked the design or the colours of them, and I have put cards together with whatever I had on hand. Well, I have realized that things would go a lot quicker if I used more coordinated papers, like the Basic Grey collections. This way I won't get so frustrated if the colours of my cards aren't quite right, paper collections is the way to go. Now, my only issue. Not a lot of options here. Might have to purchase the majority of my stuff online (thank goodness for 2 Peas in a Bucket). There is one Scrapbook store close by, but not a huge selection so I end up going to M's, but again, they rarely have paper collections. If anyone has any suggestions for this semi-newbie, please comment!!
We'll see what happens!

Holiday Season is over

Christmas is done, vacation/holidays are done, now the clean up (which I finished this morning) and paying off the credit cards are to be done. I always say I am not going to spend too much at Christmas time and I always over-spend, why is that? I have no self control that's why!! Anyway, with a little extra time I was able to do a couple cards. The black/red birthday card was inspired by K. Werner at 2 Peas in a Bucket. Thanks for looking!
